The light blue hue is followed by a large layer of mars black. To the far right the second layer on top of the mars black background, depicts a naked female figure. She leans on the black background, with the weight of the left side of her body, perched on her toes. Both her arms are placed behind her. With back and shoulders erect, her multi-toned blonde hair, outlines her facial expression of "I'm waiting and listening". Her figurine is followed by a seperating black panel of colour. At the centre of the canvas, a "mummy" like figure, wrapped in white linen bands, stands erect on a half circular platform. The umber and gold disc platform, reflects and radiates inner liveliness. The linen bands are defined, with dark contrast lines, of dark brown umber. This seems to be confirming, the life and time cycle s of this particular figure. Just below the shoulders of the "mummy" a crimson oval, glows above the white bands of linen, like an aerial or sensor of perception. The head of the "mummy" is crowned with an array of blue, gold, and red hues. This triple hue of colours, is reminiscent, of the force of an evolving tornado, in active phase and the release of energy, rising to the top of the canvas and beyond. The central figure is seperated from the 2nd naked figure, with another large panel of mars black. The second naked male figure, stands with the main part of his body mass on his left foot, his right knee is slightly bent. His body posture is similar to his female counter-part, his arms are also folded, behind his back. His facial expression, is also one of ease and acceptance, of the experiences to come. The three figures in "Bonds of Life“ stand on a stage and platform of luminescent orange. Orange the colour of luxury and pleasure, which appeals to the flamboyant and fun-loving, who like lively social arenas. According to Harold Bopst "orange is the colour of youth, strength, fearlessness, curiosity and restlessness". The platform of fluorescent orange is closed with a border of gold and dark umber. At the base of the borders, a dominating space of aqua blue is defined into three pathways. These pathways may be depicting, still waters, or varied areas of thought, required, for quite contemplation, of the emotions and the course of life. Conclusion A number of people looking at the canvas of "Bonds of Life", have stated, that this depiction reminds them of the story of creation. The creation of humankind, the first pair of homoerectus. The first pair of Homeosapiens as declared in the book of Genesis 2:7, first Adam, followed by Eve. Throughout history, men have often tried and continue, to dictate a message of dominance over women. The words of the book of Genesis do not quote that. Adam and Eve have varied roles of power, in fact it is written, that both Adam and Eve were allocated dominion over all other creations, in the garden of Eden. The garden of Eden our world, our Planet, part and parcel of our Universe. The ultimate higher force, God, allocates equal rights to both genders, male and female. The confusion of equal rights, begins, with the following words, " Both of you, Adam and Eve, can eat and share all, in the garden, except for the fruit of one tree. None of you shall eat the fruit of this tree, this is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This is the first declaration, the first order and the first test, of obdience.Adam and Eve of course, are totally innocent, they do not understand or have any inclination of evil, they have never recieved an explanation of what the difference is between evil and good. In the mean time, there is an evil entity, pervading the garden, this entity, sees Eve, and finds the perfect victim, to confuse. Ah ha...She is beautiful, she is innocent, she has everything under the sun, moon and stars, tut ..tut..tut.. what an opportunity! Her creator and father, did not bother to explain, that I, the wicked and evil entity was lurking in the garden, he did not explain, exactly what I was capable of. A perfect setting and stage, to carry out my ultimate plan, I will make her, disobey her father and creator, I will lie to her, I will lie about the power of her father, Eve he calls, look at this juicy fruit, it tastes better than all the other fruits in the garden, when you bite into this fruit, you will only wish and desire for more.Eve replies, no, I will not eat of this tree, my father told me not to, this is not true, replies the evil entity, your father, told you that you have dominion over all that is in the garden. Eve will not listen to the evil entity, Hmm... he thinks, I must convince her. Eve he calls again, you know why, your father, said that it is forbidden to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge and evil, go away, Eve replies.... You should listen to me, Eve, Your father only wants to dominate you, but if you take my advice, and eat the fruit of this tree, you will become as strong and powerful as he is. Eve does not follow this advice immediately, and tries to ignore, the constant intrusion, of this persuading, menace.......This wicked and evil entity does not care about Adam or Eve, he is only interested in declaring to the other inhabitants of the garden, that he has managed to convince Eve that his will is stronger than the will of her father and creator. Finally, he manages to persuade Eve, to eat the fruit of the tree of knowlege, good and evil. Eve is subjected to strong wrath and punishment by her father. The evil entity thinks he has won, he prances around the garden causing as much chaos as possible, the stage for the battles of war and peace is designed and ready to unfold. This evil and wicked entity, thinks and is self assured, that he has caused an eternal rift in the relationship of Eve and her father, he now declares that the world is his oyster. As the book of life unfolds, God, Eve's father and the creator, declares, in paragraph after paragraph, the reasons, for, his, advice, guidance and words of wisdom, to his family. Eve is constantly reminded, of her days of peace, and the gift of a garden full of abundance and luxury gifts, given to her, by her father for all time.NB: Concepts of Art as a therapeutic exercise-healing through colour and Images.
